The Launch of Qatar Creates
Qatar Creates was established as a year-round cultural movement with the mission to position Qatar as a global hub for arts and culture. Early initiatives included public art programs, creative collaborations, and the first edition of the Tasweer Photo Festival Qatar, celebrating photography across the region.
Qatar Creates Year Round Calendar
Qatar Creates is launched as a year round calendar to promote and show case the cultural landscape of Qatar, with a particular focus on world cup visitors. Record numbers attended Qatar's cultural experiences during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Qatar Creates Week and Global Cultural Collaborations
Qatar Creates hosted a vibrant Qatar Creates Week in March 2023, featuring exhibitions, panels, and tours that celebrated the nation's creative industries. The year also marked the Qatar-Indonesia Year of Culture, fostering cultural exchange through events like the "Growing Kopi, Drinking Qahwa" exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar.
Design and Culture Take Centre Stage
The inaugural Design Doha Biennial brought together over 100 designers from the MENA region, celebrating creativity across various disciplines. The Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture took place focusing on exchange and highlighting the rich heritage of both nations.
Growing Network of Qatar Creates
Qatar Creates commenced the Qatar-Argentina-Chile Year of Culture in 2025, emphasizing Latin American art and heritage through exhibitions like the Latin American Exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar. Q4 2025 will also mark the launch of the Qatar Creates membership program, offering exclusive experiences into Qatar's rich cultural landscape.
